Description
PubMed is an indispensable resource in the medical/scientific translator's toolbox. This free resource, which is developed and maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), at the U.S. National Library of Medicine, located at the National Institutes of Health, contains articles in English, as well as many other languages. PubMed currently contains over 22 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, online books and life science journals. The range of topics covered includes biomedicine and health, bioengineering and the behavioral and chemical sciences.

Actual examples will be used to show participants how to use PubMed effectively in their medical and scientific translations. We will go beyond simply searching for relevant articles to using PubMed for advanced translation tasks, such as terminology verification across languages and researching the clinical aspects of various treatments, which is invaluable if you are specializing in pharmaceutical translation. Participants will also learn how to download citations to their computer to use them again if needed.

All participants will receive a .pdf file of the PowerPoint presentation, as well as a handout containing additional resources.

Training program:

* How to locate relevant full-text articles using specific search criteria;
* The different types of searches that can be performed in PubMed;
* Search strategies to find the article you need;
* Verifying terminology across languages and saving citations to your computer to be used again.

On this webinar page, top right, it says "You have registered and paid for this course, and have been signed-up for GoToWebinar. The webinar access link has been emailed to you." But it hasn't been e-mailed to me. Yes, I've checked the spam folder. Webinar starts now. Please advise.
