– Мастер, – сделал шаг вперед Мартин. – Научите нас сегодня тому, как огонь из ладони добывать. Для начала.
– Молодец, – похвалил его Ворон. – Ты понял, о чем я говорю. Ромея, продолжим?
– Продолжим, – шмыгнула носом девушка. – Что надо делать?
– Все то же самое, – засмеялся маг. – Создать живой огонь.
Это и было наше первое серьезное занятие. Именно в тот мрачный ноябрьский день мы получили наш первый настоящий урок магии, и, хотя было очень холодно, мы не ощущали этого. Ворон еще раз напомнил нам о том, что в каждом из нас есть магическая сила, объяснил, как ее ощутить и как перенаправить на достижение той или иной цели. Он рассказал нам о том, что маги черпают энергию везде – в воздухе, в воде, в земле, но в первую очередь – в самих себе, о том, что заклинания – это всего лишь рукотворный ключ к дверям, за которыми находится наша сила. Причем универсальных заклинаний, как выяснилось, нет – каждый маг создает свои собственные формулы, завязанные только на него. Стандартные производные – едины, но вот каждый маг использует их по-своему, по мере сил и способностей.
Свой рассказ он сопровождал наглядной демонстрацией – мы увидели серые энергетические линии на брусчатке площади, зеленые на стволах деревьев и синие в воздухе. Увы, но вот мы сами не преуспели – ни у кого не получилось добыть огонь, да и магическую энергию, сдается мне, никто в себе так и не отыскал. Нет, несколько девушек сделали загадочные глаза, как бы говоря: «Вот теперь я буду магессой», но это же девушки. Кто из них признается, что потерпел неудачу?

“That's right,” confirmed the sorcerer [mage, magician].“This is your life. It’s yours to live, not mine. Make the most of it – it’s up to you. No one's going to go out of their way for you.”
“Master,” Martin stepped forward.“Teach us how you extract fire from your palm. Let's start with that.”
“Excellent,” Raven praised him.“You understand what I’ve been saying. Romeya, shall we continue?”
“Okay,” sniffed the girl.“What do we have to do?”
“Just like before,” the sorcerer laughed.“Create living fire.”
That was actually our first lesson. Then and there, on that gloomy November day, we got our first real lesson in magic, and although it was very cold, we didn’t feel it. Again, Raven told us that within each of us is a magical force, and he explained how to feel it and redirect it to achieve this or that goal. He told us how sorcerers draw energy from everywhere – the air, the water, the earth, but above all, from within, that spells are just man-made keys to the doors to our power. As for universal spells, it turns out there's no such thing. Each sorcerer creates his own formulas, which apply only to him. The end products are the same, but each sorcerer has his own way of wielding them, depending on his strengths and abilities.
His words were accompanied by a visual demonstration – we saw the gray energy lines of the cobbles of the square, the green lines of the tree trunks and the blue in the air. Raven uttered a spell, generating a flaming torch, which he pulled directly from the parched fountain, and after that he forced stones heaped in a pile (now we understood why we had to haul them here from the foot of the hill last week) to fashion themselves into a kind of wall.
Sadly, our progress was less than stellar – none of us managed to create fire, and as for magic energy, methinks that no-one seemed to find it within. Sure, several of girls threw out enigmatic looks as if to say: “I’m transforming into a sorceress,” but that's girls for you. Which of them is going to admit to failure?
But despite it all, this was the first step.

I call for a reduction in the price of incense. I want to be able to seek blessings from my Patron more often, without having to worry about each dime! If my proposal is to your liking, then vote!
Remember—you can only vote once a day, and your vote will be submitted to only one representative on the People's Committee. Either to me, or to Battle Scar, advocating for the pagans, or to Sarang Ria, the opposition to the Death Spirit.

In fact, the best ad copy is based on customer comments. Listen to your customers, take note of what they say, and use it in your ads. This is an elegantly simple way to create effective advertising. Simple and to the point, the customer's thought was easy to use in an effective ad. We didn't need to spin fantasies, we didn't need to write poetry or produce psycho-babble. All we needed was the ability to assimilate what the customers themselves had to say. And, generally speaking, this will work time after time. There's a reason they say that "the customer knows best".
