Freelance Japanese Linguist | Ongoing Localization Projects

Ollang is building a long-term pool of freelance Japanese linguists for ongoing localization projects across media, entertainment, e-learning, corporate and technology content.

We are looking for linguists who combine strong linguistic expertise with experience in technology-enabled localization workflows, and who are interested in a long-term, recurring collaboration.

Requirements
- Native-level Japanese and excellent command of English
- Proven translation and localization experience
- Strong understanding of terminology, tone, cultural nuance and linguistic accuracy
- Experience applying client glossaries, terminology databases and style guides
- Subtitle localization experience
- AI dubbing / dubbing localization experience is a strong plus
- Comfortable working with AI-assisted localization tools and workflows
- Ability to review and improve AI-generated translations (MTPE) to native quality
- Strong attention to consistency and quality
- Reliable availability and ability to meet deadlines

Scope of work may include
Translation, MT/AI post-editing, linguistic review, subtitle localization, AI dubbing review, terminology management and LQA.

UPDATE – Service focus: This role covers three service lines: (1) Subtitling – subtitle translation/localization and QC; (2) AI Dubbing – review and adaptation of AI-dubbed audio scripts (timing, lip-sync fit, natural delivery); (3) Speech-to-Text / Closed Captions (CC) – transcription review and SDH/closed caption creation and QC.
