Alphabetic Spice Index
Gernot Katzer | http://www.uni-graz.at/~katzer/engl...
This index comprises about 10000 names for far more than 100 spices and herbs. English and German names will be found for every spice, as well as the Latin terms used by Botanists and (if of medical use) in pharmaceutical science. For the more common spices, I give names in practically all European languages; for more obscure spices, at least some languages (Dutch, Russian, Hungarian, Polish) are supported almost throughout.
There is also a large number of Far Eastern languages supported in this index. Almost all plants are now named in Chinese (typically Mandarin, although there is a large number of Cantonese names also), Korean and Japanese; a significant number of plant names in Vietnamese, Thai, Malay and Indonesian are available, especially of plants with some tradition in South East Asia. Support for other languages (Khmer, Burmese, Lao, Tagalog) is significantly poorer. Languages of India will be expanded upon shortly. There are still defienciencies in languages of Western and Central Asia: Currently, only Turkish, Arabic and Farsi are included to a reasonable degree.
African and even more American languages are very badly represented in this index.
Includes general alphabetic, English alphabetic, morphologic, and botanic indexes.
