I completed my PhD in Physics and Mathematics at Rostov State University (Russia) in 1980, and then worked as Associate Professor at the same University for 14 years. Subjects I taught included general physics and the methodology of teaching physics and computer science.
In 1995 my family and I moved to New Zealand, where I initially worked as a Research Scientist and then a Software Developer. In the year 2000 I began working at the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, first as a Senior Lecturer in information systems and technology, and then as Head of School of Information Sciences and Technology. I taught a range of courses in information systems design, computer programming and database management.
Throughout my career, I have published 46 research papers in scientific journals and proceedings of national and international conferences.
Currently, I am semi-retired. I provide translation services (English-Russian and Russian-English) and also continue teaching some online courses from home.
