I am a seasoned medical translator and interpreter with over 11 years of experience and a dual background in medicine and linguistics. Having completed 7,000+ projects in various medical fields, dentistry, psychiatry, psychology, pharmacology, clinical trials, and medical marketing, I specialize in delivering accurate translations that resonate as though written in the target language. My expertise is rooted in my medical degree from Ukraine, six years of clinical practice as an oral health specialist, and a bachelor’s degree in translation from Kyiv National Linguistic University.

 My journey began in Kyiv, where I first saw the power of clear, compassionate communication to ease fears and build trust. This inspired me to transition into medical translation in 2013, combining my clinical knowledge and linguistic expertise to break language barriers. Over the years, I’ve worked with GPs, psychiatrists, cardiologists, OB/GYNs, and clinical investigators, ensuring healthcare communication is not only accurate but empathetic and human. During my clinical training in the USA and ongoing collaboration with U.S. healthcare institutions, I honed extensive cultural knowledge in both source and target languages.

 With a medical background, I bring an expert understanding of medical terminology and complex subjects, setting me apart from regular linguists. This expertise eliminates errors caused by a lack of medical knowledge and assures the highest level of accuracy in my work. My commitment to translation theory results in texts that sound natural and feel as if they were written in the target language, not translated. Regular participation in medical conferences and training keeps my knowledge current, ensuring my translations reflect the latest developments in healthcare.  

After the war in Ukraine began, I felt a profound responsibility to help. I volunteered over 500 hours interpreting medical appointments between Ukrainian patients and U.S./EU healthcare professionals. These sessions, both online with TeleHelp Ukraine, a Stanford-based NGO, and with MVI (Medical Volunteers International) at the refugee bases in Bulgaria, covering mental health, primary care, and pediatrics, reinforced my dedication to breaking language barriers in healthcare. Additionally, I gained two years of leadership experience as Director of Interpreter Services for TeleHelp Ukraine. In this role, I was responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, and coordinating dozens of interpreters. I also provide on-demand training sessions on medical translation into Ukrainian.

Leadership Experience

Apr 2022 – Feb 2024 – Director of Interpreter Services at TeleHelp Ukraine, Stanford-based nonprofit organization providing free, quality medical and mental health telemedicine appointments to patients located in Ukraine or Poland. I managed a team of over 30 medical interpreters and performed functions such as finding, onboarding, training, and supporting new interpreters in their volunteer work with TeleHelp Ukraine. 

Interpreting

• MVI (Jan 2024 - present) – Provide on-site medical interpretation for GPs from the UK, Germany, USA, and Norway in Bulgaria's Varna Region, facilitating effective communication and quality care for Ukrainian refugees; part-time (10 hours/week).
• TeleHelp Ukraine (2022-23; remote) — Interpreted during 200+ medical appointments between Ukrainian patients and U.S. healthcare professionals, covering mental health, primary care, and pediatrics.
• Training Program in PTSD Management | Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, MD (April 2023 - present) – Provide interpretation for weekly webinars on mental health topics for Ukrainian mental health workers, including EMS & Patient Aggression, Anger Management, CBT and DBT for PTSD Treatment, Intimate Partner Violence, and Polyvagal Theory in Trauma Management.
• CronosBio Phase 3 Entospletinib in NPM1m AML Study (AGILITY) — Virtual Investigator Meeting (remote; 2023).

• Greater New York Dental Meeting (2013; New York, USA) – Provided interpretation during a six-day dental course for a group of Ukrainian dentists.

CLINICAL PRACTICE
