Not funny Mar 4, 2014

It is a very well written blog, so yes, thanks for posting the link. But this has been going on for so long that I just can't laugh about it anymore. Maybe I'm suffering from True Translator's Depression...

True TD Mar 4, 2014

It's funny but I didn't think it has much to do with dementia. Here is a symptom of true DT: you are searching your mind for a certain word and you can come up with the right word in two or three other languages but not in the one you need...

démenti Sep 29, 2018

Considering the symptomatology, the cardinal symptom of amentia (imbecility) is the very idea that modern translation is a self-sufficient profession, not heavily related to journalism, rewriting, transcreation, business, politics, psychology, and others, not just an add-on to the "field" sciences. As our professor used to say:
There's no such thing as "just translation" !

Joking about Dementia isn't funny. You may die of it one day.

Déformation professionnelle: Take it easy Sep 30, 2018

Tom, everyone shall die of something one day for sure, yet it's more about "professional deformation" or "job distortion", just a bias. As one doctor said: "While the final cause of death is an impaired cardial function (cardiac arrest), it requires many factors to provoke the heart failure... Or a whim of Fate".
