Hello , I am a student of translation , and I am doing a research about the use of forums as a tool for translating . I was wondering if some one could answer some questions about this topic. I know that this is not the purpose of this forum , but I hope you can help me . Thanks

How old are you?

Gender?

Where are you from?

What is your academic degree?

How long have you been participating on translation forums?

How many time do you usually spend on these forums?

Do you visit other forums? How many? Which ones?

Could you recommend another forum to new users?

Why did you start to participate on translation forums?

Do you believe that these forums are helpful in terms of information posted?

Do you believe that the information posted on translation forums is reliable?

Do you believe that forums are good tools for doing a translation?

Do you think that forums have to charge in order to have more reliable information? Why?

I visit forums only when I receive an e-mail message about something that has been posted.
No recommendations at this time.

I participate in forums to gain or lend insight on topics related to translation.
I believe that forums are an effective way to exchange information.
The information seems to be reliable, since it often is a reflection of the poster's own experience.
When I am doing a translation, my time is usually too limited to allow for browsing a forum. I do use the terminology tools, though.
I don't think that any changes are needed at this time. It's up to the reader to do fact-checking.

Hope this helps.
