I got a test translation and I am required to fill in Methodology and References table. It contains Source text, Translation, Reference source, etc.
What is necessary to write there?
Thank you very much.

The last time I was supposed to provide this information was during the first semester at translation school. They simply want to know which resources you used for your research.

Good:
- I found the information on the following websites, therefrom websites by world market leaders: (provide URL), government websites: (provide URL), etc., and I compared the information in both languages

- I found the technical term on Google Translate
- I asked my nephew

I suppose it depends on what your nephew's area of specialization is!

If the nephew is a true specialist, you would list him as a specialist and not as the nephew.

If you looked up a word, put the URL of the reference into the reference section. That's it. They are not going to spend more than 10s looking at your references, so don't spend much time on it.

Just don't waste your time Sep 24, 2015

The rule is very simple one - those time waster agencies (asking for free tests, filling in online "bed sheets", and other stupid things) usually never provide any work. And the type of agencies which have no time for these formalities (Ok, they can ask for your CV, many of them may ask to sing NDAs before cooperation as some materials can really be very "sensitive"), usually do provide work (and they do not need any tests because they usually have a strong QA teams and they really revise all th... So even if they do not ask for these "methodology and references" (let alone they do here) - this is not the key issue. Do not waste your time, unless you have nothing else to do (e.g. you can go for a walk, or have some rest instead). Quite a strict approach, but based on many years of practical experience

Can also give the contacts of aunts, uncles, cousins, good friends, etc. as formal references are VERY "important” – much more important than what and how you do you work And the "special methodology" too - "getting the source files, translating them into the target language, and sending the translation to the client" + using google as the main source of reference LOL
