OPERATION:
1. Putting the gage in service
Check that the operating conditions are within the rating of the gage. Each Magnicator II has a permanent nameplate engraved with the rating and process conditions.
Check to see that all vent and drain valves and plugs (if applicable) are securely closed.
Flipper Indication: Black = Vapor Space, Yellow = Liquid Space (all flippers should be in the black position).
Slowly open the upper isolation valve. Upper isolation valve must be opened first to equalize the pressure between the gage and tank/vessel.
Slowly open the lower isolation valve. The float will rise with the liquid level in the chamber. This magnet assembly is positioned in the float so it will ride at the surface of the liquid (or at the interface between two liquids when specified. Flippers will turn yellow with the liquid level (or the bob follower will track the float).
2. Securing the gage for service
Close lower isolation valve.
Close upper isolation valve.
Slowly open vent valve to release the pressure from the level gage.
Slowly open drain valve to drain liquid from the gage chamber.
MAINTENANCE:
The Magnicator II magnetic liquid level gage is a simple device which requires a minimum amount of maintenance. The maintenance would normally consist of cleaning the chamber. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the process in which it is installed in. When enough foreign matter collects in the chamber to restrict the movement of the float, it will be necessary to secure the gage and drain out the accumulation of dirt from the chamber. The gage can be flushed by using the vent and drain connections. In extreme cases, it may be necessary to remove the float, and mechanically clean the float and chamber. Some processes may dictate the use of a suitable solvent for cleaning. In the event the float should be removed, refer to steps given under INSTALLATION.

1. Введение уровнемера в эксплуатацию
Проверьте, чтобы условия эксплуатации соответствовали характеристике уровнемера. Каждый магнитный уровнемер II имеет постоянную табличку с гравировкой характеристики и условий работы.

Магнитный уровнемер II (магнитное измерительное устройство уровня жидкости) – это простой прибор, который не требует сложного технического обслуживания. Обычно техническое обслуживание состоит из очистки резервуара. Периодичность очистки будет зависеть от процессов работы всего механизма, куда установлен прибор. Когда количество примеси, накопленной в резервуаре, достаточно для ограничения движения поплавка, необходимо обезопасить измерительное устройство и удалить накопившуюся грязь из резервуара. Уровнемер может быть промыт с использованием воздушного клапана и сливных патрубков. В предельных случаях, необходимо снять поплавок и механически прочистить его вместе с резервуаром. Некоторые режимы работы могут предусматривать использование соответствующих растворителей для очистки. Source text - English Influence of Temperature and Alloying Elements on Fluidity of Al-Si Alloys
The goal of the work is to study the influence of casting temperature and four alloying elements: Mg, Ti, Fe and Sr, on fluidity of Al-7wt% Si alloys. Fluidity of the alloys was measured using a fluidity mould produced by N-Tec Ltd., U.K. The experiements were designed using three orthogonal L8 Taguchi matrices. Each of the four alloying elements and the casting temperature was an independent variable with two levels. Three interactions between the variables were identifed and analyzed. The two levels of Mg were 0.03wt.% and 0.45 wt.%; Ti levels were 0 and 0.2 wt.%; Sr at 0 and 0.023 wt%; and Fe levels were 0.06 wt% and 0.24. wt.%. Superheats were 70 C and 130 C over the respective liquidus temperatures of the experimental alloys. The main effect of each of the independent variables on the fluidity was quantified and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was performed on the experiment matrix. The results were verified and validated to ensure robustness of the experiement design. In addition to the Taguchi design of experiments show that casting temperature had the most pronounced influence on fluidity of the molten metal. Among the alloying elements chosen, only MG had an appreciable effect on fluidity. Increasing Mg in the melt from 0 to 0.45 wt.% showed a decrease in fluidity of the molten metal. The results of the fluidity experiments on the additional five melt systems show that silicon has a significant effect on fluidity. The variation of fluidity among families of Al-Si alloys is more pronounced that the variation within a particular family of alloy such as 356, which implies that minor changes in composition within a family of Al-Si alloy does not influence fluidity significantly.

Цель работы – это изучение влияния температуры литья и четырех легирующих элементов: магний, титан, железо и стронций на текучесть сплавов 7% алюминий-кремний. Текучесть сплавов измеряется при использовании литейной формы изготовленной компанией N-Tec Ltd, Великобритания. Эксперименты проводились с использованием трех ортогональных L8 Тагучи матриц. Каждый из четырех легирующих элементов и температура литья изменялись независимо друг от друга в два уровня. Три взаимодействия между изменениями определялись и анализировались. Два уровня магния были 0,03% и 0,45%; уровни титана были 0 и 0,2%; уровни стронция был 0 и 0,023%; уровни железа были 0,06% и 0,24%. Перегрев составлял 70 С и 130 С над соответствующей температурой перехода в жидкое состояние сплавов, участвующих в эксперименте. Основной эффект на текучесть каждого из независимых изменений был подсчитан и анализ вариантов (ANOVA) был выполнен на экспериментальной матрице. Source text - English Recently, composite materials made of fibers embedded in a polymeric resin, also known as fiber-reinforced polymers, have become an alternative to steel reinforcement for concrete structures. Aramid fiber reinforced polymer (AFRP), carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rods are the commercially available products for the construction industry. They have been proposed for use in lieu of steel reinforcement or steel prestressing tendons in nonprestressed or prestressed concrete structures (ACI 440R 1996). The problems of steel corrosion are avoided with the use of FRPs because FRP materials are nonmetallic and noncorrosive. In addition, FRP materials exhibit several properties including high tensile strength, that make them suitable for the use as structural reinforcement. Furthermore, codes and design guide provisions have been recently prepared for the use of FRP bars in concrete structures for bridges and buildings (ACI 440H 2000; CSA 2000; ISIS-Canada 2000).
The bond characteristics are responsible to transfer the load from concrete to reinforcement and to develop the required stress in the reinforcement for an equilibrium, particularly when concrete is cracked. Service limits in FRP reinforced concrete elements such as deflection, crack width and crack spacing are directly influenced by the bond properties of the reinforcement in concrete.
Fiber reinforced polymer bars are anisotropic materials. Factors such as type and volume of fiber and resin, fiber orientation and quality control during the manufacturing play a major role in the mechanical characteristics.
In the case of Carbon FRP rebar (CFRP Isorod bar from Pultrall, ADS Composites Group), when comparing a steel bar of 11.3 mm diameter with CFRP rebar with similar diameter of about 9.5 mm, the results shows that the tensile stress-strain curves of the CFRP bar are linear up to failure (All FRP bars are linear elastic to failure). The ultimate tensile strength is at least 1500 MPa, 3 times that of steel rebar. The modulus of elasticity of the CFRP bar is 128 GPa, about 65% that of steel. The CFRP bar exhibited almost the same bond strength to concrete as 11.3 mm diameter steel bar. (Benmokrane et al. 2001)
As for Glass FRP bar (ASLAN 100 GFRP bar from Hughes Brothers, Inc.), tensile strength of 9 mm GFRP bar is 760 MPa, and the Modulus of Elasticity is 40.8 GPa, much lower than that of steel.

Source text - English he mounting of a half-coupling and the like on a shaft is, locally, intrinsically indeterminate. This is exemplified by the pulley boss illustrated which extends from A to C along the stepped shaft. The actual distributions of bending and torque in the shaft are shown. To the left of A and to the right of C there are no immediate transverse loads, so the bending moment is linear. But within AC the boss contributes to the shaft's stiffness and also distributes the pulley load gradually into the shaft, so the bending moment variation is non-linear. Similarly the torque is some constant value (zero here) in the shaft to the left of A and another constant value T to the right of C - within AC the torque increases in a complex indeterminate fashion.
No attempt is made to resolve this bending/torsional indeterminacy - the actual distributions are instead replaced by approximate distributions based on external loads concentrated at the mid-point B. This leads to a bending moment diagram characterised by straight segments and a torque diagram which increases stepwise at B. The approximation is justified in view of unknown stiffness details and stress concentration due to shoulders (used for positive longitudinal location) and mountings (square keys, shrink fits etc.) In this example a cross-section between B and C is critical since the diameter is the smaller DA (neglecting the blending radii which reduce stress concentration at the shoulder), the torque is the fully developed T, and the bending moment is to all intents and purposes the peak MB.
Shafts are supported in two bearings (sliding or rolling) which allow the shafts to turn freely - there is no appreciable torque exerted by the bearings. A sliding bearing needs a lubricant film in the clearance space between shaft and bearing bush; in the fully hydrodynamic bearing illustrated the oil is dragged into the wedge-shaped gap causing a pressure build-up (similar to that in hydroplaning) which supports the shaft without metal-to-metal contact and little friction.
