I know what this means, but my question regards customary usage in Canada, where this document is to be used. The translator used "immovable property," which is a valid translation, but sounds odd to a non-lawyerly American ear. I (the proofreader) would say "real property" or "real estate." Googling led to indecisive results. Clearly all these terms are used--as far as I can see, interchangeably. Is there a preference in the Canadian context?

Автор вопроса: Thanks, I saw this. But that's the same thing as real estate or real property. That's my dilemma.

Unless this is a scholarly article on property law in civil law jurisdictions, I would use the natural term. How do French Canadians translate immobilier?

But "immobilier" is the exact French equivalent of недвижное имущество, so if French Canadians translate it as "real estate" that's a big clue!

Автор вопроса: It's a certificate of ownership. I'll have to check on the French Canadians, but not sure this has anything to do with FRENCH Canadians.

Автор вопроса: I think I'll go with this, while not "grading" the question, because I really don't know for sure. Thanks to all who helped!

Property, capital facilities, premises, estate property, fixed property, fixed assets, real assets; immovables; real estate, landed property; realty; tenement - that is full entry for you for "недвижимость". But I will go for "property" because it includes all and by the means of speciality of your text cannot be mistaken for just "belongings".
