Quote from Harry Mulisch's Siegfried
английский => русский

Dear consummate readers!
My request is a bit unusual. I need to insert a small quotation from the book Siegfried by Harry Mulisch into my translation. In the text I am translating, the quote is given in English, (which in itself is a translation - I believe, originally Siegfried was published in Dutch). My task is to find this quote in the Russian translation. I have already located the Russian text and will have access to it tomorrow. The problem is, I'll only a couple of hours to find the quote. Not enough time to read the book :-) Another problem is, I don't have the English text, from which the quote is given, and can't compare the passages.
The phrase I am looking for is "All cows were like all other cows, all tigers like all other tigers - what on earth has happened to human beings"?
I've googled and googled, trying to find its place in the English text, and the best I came up with is that is's somewhere close to the end of the first third of the book (page 60 of the 180-page volume). This is helpful, but still not precise enough. I was wondering if anybody here had this book and could look it up and say which chapter this quotation is from. I know it's a lot to ask, but maybe I'll be lucky :-)
Thanks.
