Singapore's SembCorp Utilities plans to build a $150-mil ($88-mil) gas separation plant of 450 Mmcf/day capacity, officials from the company said Friday. "We plan to build the plant in the second half of 2002 and the scheduled start-up date is 2004," an official said. "The plant will make efficient use of the natural gas that we buy from Pertamina. Part of the gas will be used to produce methane, propane and butane to be sold to chemical plants in Jurong Island," she added.
SembCorp is receiving 325 Mmcf/day of natural gas from Pertamina over the next 22 years. The gas, coming from the West Natuna fields operated by Conoco, Premier Oil, and Gulf Indonesia, is being delivered to SembCorp's receiving terminal at Sakra on Jurong Island. SembCorp supplies gas to Tuas Power and Power Seraya.
