Standard preparation:
Cut a section weighing about 2.0 mg of USP High Density Polyethylene RS in the Specimen pan.
Place the lid over it and keep the right side thermo couple of the furnace.
To the left side, place a reference pan (empty aluminum pan with a lid placed over it).
Close the furnace.
Determine the thermo gram under nitrogen at temperatures 40° and 200°c, heating rate at 5°/min to 200°C followed by cooling rate at 5°C/min to 40°C.
Analyze the sample as per the program and collect the plot.
Determine the onset value.
