So I have started looking for other tools. I have been trying out Metatexis but it appears (as far as I can see at the moment) that no formatting information (bolding, superscript, whatever) is preserved in the memories... and therefore is not output in the TMX, etc. This is a massive problem and I am surprised that the Metatexis team haven't got around to doing something about it.
My question: does Wordfast preserve this information? And does every version? Classic, Anywhere, Pro?
Classic doesn't preserve formatting information either. Pro and Anywhere do.

Secondly: I mainly translate Word documents... which is the best version for me?
As someone used to Trados Workbench, you would probably find the interface of Classic and Anywhere easier to learn than that of Pro.

Can someone point me to a good page/site which compares the three flavours of Wordfast?
You can find a very short comparison here.

It seems people at Proz tend to like the Pro version... why might that be?
I wouldn't care too much about what people at ProZ or elsewhere like: you are the one who is going to use the tool, so it's your preferences that matter.
