Powerpoint file doesn't open in WFP V3

Dear All,

I use WFP V3 on my Mac (OS X Lion) and I use Microsoft PPT 2008 for Mac V 12.3.3.

I had no problems with my previous PPT file after I split it into 3 parts to reduce its size but this one doesn't open at all - even not after reducing it to just 1 slide with almost no text or anything else on it. The current file size is 1.9 MB, which actually doesn't seem too big.

This is the error message it keeps showing:

Document too big

P.S. My Mac also runs VMFusion ware and I used WF classic there in the past but PPT files always froze there starting at slide 2. So, this is no option either.

I already tried to reduce the size of the PPT with the classic PPT version for MS. In vain because it just doesn't reduce the size. ▲ Collapse

Since you have a Windows virtual machine at your disposal, you may want to install the Windows version of WFP in it, and see if it has more luck with your PPT.

If your PowerPoint file is a .PPT, you may want to save it as .PPTX (or the other way round) and see if it makes a difference.

...didn't work. New error message:

Invalid document format detected
Error: Error occurred while pre-parsing presentation.

I guess I will download the Windows version of WFP on my virtual machine tomorrow.

If this doesn't work, I will make use of the support addresses.

Just out of curiosity: what was the outcome of your PPT problem?

When I wanted to download WFP to my virtual machine I had to find out that the internet connection settings had changed due to several software updates on Mac and Fusion.
This means I didn't get a connection to download it.

The next thing I did was that I just created a new, blank PPT file and copied the tables of the original PPT file into it. This was possible because the file just had simple tables that could be copied easily.

The next thing I did was that I just created a new, blank PPT file and copied the tables of the original PPT file into it. This was possible because the file just had simple tables that could be copied easily.

I have no idea why the original file was so inflated but the copied PPT file worked fine on the WFP on my Mac. I even didn't have to split it in order to reduce the number of the slides.

Although some background colours of the tables had changed and that's why I copied again the translated result of the copied PPT file back into the original file. This worked out fine too. A bit elaborate but it worked.

Meanwhile, I have the internet connection re-established on my virtual machine. Would it still be possible to make use of your generous offer to download a Word version of WFP on my virtual machine. One never knows what this can be good for.

How would I have to activate it from the demo version to a fully active version, if at all?

Even if you have no internet connection inside your virtual machine, you can download the file on the Mac side, and then drag & drop it into the Fusion window. This will copy it to the virtual machine, after which you can install it normally.

As per the Wordfast license agreement (see Multiple installations), you are entitled to install Wordfast on two separate machines: in your case, this could be WFP for Mac in the OS X side of your Mac and WFP for Windows in the Windows virtual machine (Fusion). And you can of course license the copy of WFP for Windows.
