Hello,
I am a last-year student writing a paper in which I would like to compare 4 subtitling softwares.
I would like to know, what is most important to you in the software you use ?
What are the most important characteristics in a subtitling software ?
Thank you for your help,
Morgane.

Workflow

Hi there,
for me, it is very important that the work-flow is good and the key short-cuts are reasonable and easy to remember - it may be usefull to be able to set your own!
Also the programme has to be stabile - crashs are (as with any software) almost unacceptable.
A clean yet nice interface helps a lot (I prefer the SWIFT interface to the ugly WinCAPS one).
Moving subtitles on the screen should be easier than it is with most.

It should be compatible with other subtitle programmes.
The price should be decent and not over-the-top (it is unbelievable what these programmes cost when you think about what they do or dont do)
useful functions apart from the obvious would be fast forward/rewind and slow-mo
very useful is a frame-screen/timeline (the thing that shows you every single frame; in WinCaps there is now additionally to that the wave of the audio - very useful!)
I'm sorry if I can't think of any more right now, I haven't used my subtitling software for a while! ▲ Collapse
