Greetings,
A potential client has asked me to take a Russian documentary and 1) transcribe the audio into Russian, 2) note the time code burned into the tape next to each entry, and 3) translate the Russian into English, in the form of sub-titles. The pay is $15 for and hour of my time; nothing to write home about, I suppose, but I'd like to try my hand at this.

Thank you in advance,

They are asking you to do a subtitling translation... that's a very special specialty, if I can say so... first of all, you seem not have any experience in this field... and, well, I would'nt take any chance... you need certainly a LOT of experience to do such a job, and I'm not trying to discourage you...

First of all, you need a special software (will they give it to you?) to input Time In and Time Out of each subtitle, and then put your translation BUT according to a certain number of characters alloud... so, you have to translate AND resume your text. If you have no experience, I sould say it'll take you at least 2 weeks to do it! It'll cost them a lot of money!
Any further comment, don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly.
Good luck.
Juan Jacob, subtitler. Mexico.
