Bearing in mind my recent attempts to persuade my mother to use a Kindle (thanks to all those who offered advice when I was researching the idea - unfortunately I have to report that the recipient is showing great reluctance to collaborate), today's bit in the Grauniad struck a chord. I sent this clip to my mom. She asked me not to buy her an iPad for X-mas, because

a) she rarely ever uses her cell phone and

b) she already has a cutting board!
