I was reading a list of quotes, some better known than other in Japanese. Its been some challenge tracking down the original English quote in some cases. But then, there are the few that originate in Japanese, and I'm not sure if they are known in English. So I ask you, do you have any quotes that you would like to share?
Here's a few of mine.

The interpretation of these quotes are quickly becoming more difficult than I thought.
Let me start with my own.
"Your closest friend is as boring as your siblings"
-Sakutaro Hagiwara (poet and writer)
Meaning, that a true close friend isn't flashy, or the most exciting. But comforting and familiar.

Its a matter of effort to make something. As in, creating something may only be a simple step forward.

This one is a bit difficult to explain. But it means to me that nice people are taken for granted.

I can't quite understand what the significance is. Explanation, please?

Nobel Prize Spanish writer Camilo José Cela was designated by our King as a senator in the first interim Senate after Franco's times. When another senator (a Catholic priest among many other things) asked him whether he was asleep, Cela replied: "No father, I was not askeep: I was sleeping."
"Is it not the same thing?," asked the priest.
Cela replied: "It is not the same to be asleep than being sleeping, the same way it is not the same to be fucked than to be fucking".... re. the absurdities of the socialist system, there is a famous line in this film, when the Hungarian orange (in reality a lemon?) is presented to the Party representative:

Yes, Nancy, that's exactly what it means, and, of course, the Lamb is not just a lamb. I tried to make it sound like it sounds in Armenian, but apparently failed to express the meaning accurately. Here's another version:

A ewe was asking me:
"God bless your child,

Fingers move still slower than sound travels.
