Without moving the search unit, adjust sensitivity to successively set the larger indication from 100% to 20% of full screen height in steps of 2dB and note the smaller indication at each setting. The amplitude must be 50% of the larger amplitude within 5% of full screen height. Alternatively, a straight beam search unit may be used on any calibration block, which will provide differences with sufficient signal separation to prevent overlapping of the two signals. Readings must be estimated to nearest 1%.
