Russian term

инерционные ловушки

Russian to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci Gas processing
Context: "В инерционных ловушках системы газотранспорта происходит очистка техуглерода от посторонних включений."

"In the gas transport system’s ???? catch tanks, the carbon black is cleansed to eliminate foreign substances."

One could write "inertial", but is that a false friend? I was given a help file, in which these инерционные ловушки are called "low-response catch tanks". I know that one of the definitions of "инерционный" is "slow-response" (as in "delayed-action"), but what is "low-response"? Should I go with "inertial," or just blindly follow the help file, even though I don't know if it was supposed to be "low", or "slow"? Or, is there a totally different term?

Discussion

Rachel Douglas (asker) Nov 2, 2009:
Thanks to both of you! And now, I am absolutely not going to think about how many other technical things may have been wrong in these "help" files I was given!
Igor Blinov Nov 2, 2009:
inertial trap no, Rachel, neither "low" nor "slow" have anything common with operation of these traps. Zoya' answer is correct, it is "inertial traps"
