Usually about an hour. However, if I have a lot of work on, or a job I'm particularly keen on, I might start within ten or fifteen minutes. And, on the rare occasions when I don't have any pressing work to do, I might faff about for another an hour or so looking at newspapers or blogs or whatever... | | | Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 07:10 английский => испанский + ... Faffing right now | Sep 24, 2017 |
Since I'm not a morning person, I take about 2-5 hours to get started. Yeah, yeah, you'll tell me I can't hold a job acting like that. | | | It varies from day to day | Sep 24, 2017 |
Let’s say that it could be between 10/15 minutes and an hour or so, depending if I have a tight deadline or not. I have my alarm set for 7.30 to take my medicine, but I don't get up then, I like to enjoy an hour in bed. So I’ll be up anytime between 8 and 9 am. I turn my PC on as soon as I got out of bed and I’ll start preparing my breakfast (orange juice, tea, scrambled eggs and toasts, followed by an espresso coffee). If I have an ongoing or new job I get on with it still in my nighties for two or three hours, at which point I shower, get dressed and it will be about time to fix lunch… ▲ Collapse

"A couple of hours" means the same thing as "a few hours" in my opinion (in British English, at least). "One or two hours" would have been better as one answer. | | | Jessica Ordman Италия Local time: 13:10 Член ProZ.com c 2013 итальянский => английский I work nights | Sep 24, 2017 |
I work nights (after my two small children have gone to bed), so the question is actually how long after I've finished working do I go to bed.... | | | Thayenga Германия Local time: 13:10 Член ProZ.com c 2009 английский => немецкий + ...
It depends on several factors, e. g. appointment, deadlines, how late I worked the previous night. But there is not time factor, really, since it's not a 9 - 5 job.

Usually about 15 minutes.
I start by reading my e-mail first. That can take a while. There can be many interruptions during the day. | | | Gudrun Maydorn (X) Германия Local time: 13:10 английский => немецкий + ... Over an hour when kids were small | Sep 25, 2017 |
Those who start work a longer time after waking up may well be busy doing other essential tasks. Think of parents who have to get kids off to kindergarten or school. | | | Sarah Brodacz Local time: 13:10 Член ProZ.com c 2010 английский => немецкий + ... I am a morning person and like to have a certain structure | Sep 25, 2017 |
In my first year as a freelancer, I worked without a certain structure, i.e. no fixed time frame, often in the evenings, often on weekends but enjoyed meeting friends and family or going shopping when others use to work. But it actually stressed me, and when I took a break to go swimming with a friend, it increasingly annoyed me that I had to get back to work afterwards while she enjoyed her leisure time (we went swimming after her work but that was in the middle of my working day). But it actually stressed me, and when I took a break to go swimming with a friend, it increasingly annoyed me that I had to get back to work afterwards while she enjoyed her leisure time (we went swimming after her work but that was in the middle of my working day). So I started to structure my day - separating work and the life beyond a bit more. My dog helped me with that as she also needs a certain structure for walks and play time and rest. In the morning, I get up, go for a walk with the dog and then have breakfast and a little newspaper time. This usually takes about an hour and a half before you'll find me start my PC - and I've already had a good time outside and a little quality time then. ▲ Collapse

This does vary, but if nothing is in the way, I am as fit a s fiddle as soon as I wake up and I generally get stuck into my work straight away - after making a morning coffee. | | | Страниц в теме: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How long after you wake up in the morning before you are at work translating?
