Hi, Philippine colleagues and everybody!
I'm planning to visit the Philippines next August. I know it may not be the best season for a visit, but on the other hand I find it difficult to go on holidays in other times of the year due to family reasons. I would like to ask you what places you would recommend visiting where there are interesting things to see and where I will get no rain (or at least not too much rain!).

I would like to ask you what places you would recommend visiting where there are interesting things to see and where I will get no rain (or at least not too much rain!).
We're scuba divers, too. Any good spots you can suggest to enjoy a bit of scuba diving in good weather without spending a fortune?
I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you in advance,
Cecilia

Summer in the PI Mar 4, 2007

It's a great country. I lived there for four years and have been going back for the last 15 years.

Boarcay is very nice. Got some nice dive on the island too, white sand beaches. Buhol may be a bit cheaper, and isn't as touristy. Palawan has good diving. Because of problems in the Southern Islands, I wouldn't go much further than that.

The Luzon area can be quite nice too...Lots to see in Manila, Baugio (summer capital), Aliminos (Hundred Islands), Agoo, San Fernan

You've already said that you know August isn't a good time of year, but I can't help but emphasize that December/January would be sooo much nicer.

places to visit in the Philippines Mar 4, 2007

other than the mentioned sites above, Pagudpod in the northern Luzon (about 8 hours drive from Laoag City) is the new hot spot most popular for Taiwanese & Japanese Tourists. There are also 5 Star Hotels and definitely safe from Aby Sayaf. Another place popular for divers because of its beautiful corals is Palawan's Tubbataha , I've never been there, but I saw it in TV. Since you're from Italy, I believe converting your Lira to Peso would have a great purchasing power here. However August ... See more

However August is our rainy season, as long as there's no typhoon, then monsson rains won't destroy your trip. Enjoy!Collapse

How I would like to go back there! ;-) Mar 5, 2007

Hi Cecilia,
I once spent a fantastic holiday near Boracay in the village of Coco Beach, all natural, absolutely no concrete, fantastic beach and clear water and wonderful people.
You can check out this place at www.cocobeach.com

Lucky you!
Dinny
