Urdu has drawn liberally from the languages spoken by the invaders which include Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Uzbek and Pashto. About 30% of the vocabulary of Urdu consists of these foreign words. Rooh could be one of them. We also have रूहानी (roohani) and रूहानियत (roohaniat) which are derived from rooh and mean spiritual and spirituality respectively.
