What Linux distribution/version works best with ASUS N61Jv x64-based notebook [Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)] and ASUS DSL-G31 Wireless ADSL Modem Router?
Thanks a million in advance for your advice.
Sincerely - Danesh

Personally I don't know anything about this notebook, but if you look around in Linux discussion forums etc., you might find some info.

At any rate, unless you are really into Linux, know your way around the shell, the compiler etc., I doubt there is a better Linux for you than Ubuntu, or maybe OpenSuse. The former gets released on a half-yearly basis, it doesn't get much more up to date than that (and being up to date is the main point when it comes to preinstalled drivers).

There seemed to be some serious trouble with the graphics driver though:

That may have gone away, I just don't know. Your best option is to join one of those forums and ask there.

Pls. note that the x64 architecture is not always the best choice for Linux. The reason is that some commercial software or drivers are made available for x32 only, so you might have to install a compatibility layer and jump through hoops in order to get it all running.

Good luck!
