hi all, when I'm on www.tripod.com and click on "Logout", I can't use the internet anymore because at the top of the screen it says "not online mode". Please help! Martin from Udine

More info?

Martin,
as a rule, your logging on and off to internet sites cannot possibly affect your ability to be online.
Where exactly do you see the indication "not online mode"? What browser do you use? How do you connect to the internet? What operating system?
Endre
PS: Thanks for refraining from posting the same question in multiple topics.

at the very top of the screen where now it says "ProZ.com: ProZ.com Forums -Microsoft Internet Explorer", it says (on the computer I am supposed to use - where I'm now, they are going to throw me out any minute) "off line mode", to whatever page I go. Please help! (I did post this on Proz.com Technical support an hour ago - because I had looked under "T" for Tech Supp and not under "G" - and looked for an answer every minute in vain until I realised that those postings are not published) ... Deactivate "Offline mode" in IE
Feb 14, 2004
As I wrote to you privately, your IE is probably in Offline Mode. This mode can be toggled on and off in IE's file menu.
Switch it off (no checkmark next to the menu option "Offline mode") and everything should be fine.
Endre

thanks, Endre, for your private mail!

I supposed the solution was simple but I had not looked under "File" because that's the least related category... in the meantime the beadles had closed the room and the computer, and when I switched it on, it proposed "connect" and went OK - whereas yesterday when the same thing happened, after restarting, shutting down and so on always "off line" returned...
