For a field of "DD-MM-YYYY", I happened to translate it. Then it shows a "DDDD-MMMM-YYYYYYYY".Now I want to bring it back to "DD-MM-YYYY". Is there any button to do it? Thanks in advance!

Clarification? Sep 29, 2007

Hi Carol,

Could you clarify what program you are working in and what you want to do precisely? That would help to give you a proper answer.

Annelise

Hi Carol, Sep 29, 2007

If you're using Trados just click on:

1. Options on Translator's Workbench

2. then Substitution Localisation (third tab)

3. then set your preference under Date

4. make sure the Date box is ticked

5. click OK.

That should do it! If you're using another CAT tool then I can't help.

Best of luck,

Ivana

Hi Annelise, it is in a Word file. Actually, it is like this:

1. Source text
2. I translate it, then it becomes
{0>Source textTranslated text

No button, looks like a bug Sep 29, 2007

This is a very strange behaviour. My version of Wordfast has never done this. I think you should report the bug... and no, there isn't a button to fix this sort of thing.

3.Then I realize the source text doesn't require translation, it should be kept as it was, i.e. Source text.
4.How could I get it back?

Make sure you don't have an existing open segment (pressing Alt+Delete should suffice).

Put your cursor anywhere on that text, and press Alt+down to open it. Then press Alt+Insert copy the source text into the target text. Then press Alt+End to close the segment.

If the segment is close enough to your current position, you can simply use Alt+up to go back to it, and when you're done, use Alt+down to move back to your current position.

Oh, you're using Trados Sep 30, 2007

In another thread you mention that you're using Trados. Sorry, I thought you were using Wordfast (initially I thought you had OmegaT, in fact). My advice may not work for Trados.

It happens to me if working in tables Oct 1, 2007

I figured out that I need to add a return at the end of the original sentence or paragraph. So, first open the segment and restore the original text, then add a return, then retranslate.

Could this work in your case?
