Licensing computer or partition? Автор темы: JohnWhi

In accordance with the Wordfast End User License Agreement (EULA), I have WFP licensed on an iMac and a MacBook Pro. Both run OS X and Windows 8.1 (i.e. on separate partitions), but I usually do translation work on the Mac side. I have assumed that, under the terms of the EULA, I would not be allowed to license the Windows side of either computer without removing the Mac WFP licence, even though no additional computer would be involved. Am I correct? | | | Alex Lago Испания Local time: 10:33 английский => испанский + ... Good question why don't you ask them | Jun 13, 2015 |
This is a good question as the EULA mentions computer not OS, so I would say it's unclear, why not contact Wordfast and ask them | | | Spirit of the license agreement | Jun 13, 2015 |
Technically speaking, if you have two Macs and each of them with a Windows virtual machine, you have four computers onto which you can install Wordfast.
The letter of the license agreement will let you install it onto two computers (doesn't matter whether it's Mac or Windows, physical or virtual machine). The spirit of the agreement is that you should have one license per user. For instance, if your wife were a translator and also using Wordfast, you would need two licenses (unless you took shifts working on a single computer...). If you're the only person using Wordfast in your household, no one is going to sue you if you install and license Wordfast on the OS X and Windows sides of both Macs. You may exhaust your relicensing credits, though, in which case you would have to request your license to be reset. ▲ Collapse | | | JohnWhi Великобритания Local time: 09:33 французский => английский Автор темы Many thanks for the explanation | Jun 13, 2015 |
Many thanks for the explanation, Dominique. The licensing agreement seems quite generous for a single user with two computers. | |

Yes, especially when compared to some competitors: for instance, SDL asks about €150 extra for their Freelance "Plus" version (which allows two concurrent installations), compared to the standard Freelance version (which only allows installation on one computer). | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Licensing computer or partition?
