I regularly get clients' own TMs, which I use alongside my own TM. I used to use the client's TM as the TM and my own as the BTM, but then I would have to swap them around at the end of each job when I clean the document in order to update my own TM. Now I do it the other way round (so my new translation goes straight into my own TM) (the client doesn't need it in theirs), but have noticed that it seems that concordance searches don't go into the BTM at all if they can find matches in the TM (so... How do other people approach this? Have I missed somewhere where you can change the settings in this regard?
Thanks! ▲ Collapse

Yes, my work folders are filled with TMs that contain my own translations but which I had forgotten to merge with my BTMs, because it is so cumbersome to do it. I generally use my own TM as the BTM (which every now and then I update from the working TMs) and then I use the client's TM as the main TM. One reason for this is that I often use a single TM for my own translations, for multiple clients, but I never mix client's TMs with each other (to avoid accidental usage of one client's own translation in another client's translation).
Yes, I wish there was a way to easily switch TMs, so that one can add segments to the "other" TM.
There does not seem to be a PB command for changing the order of concordance searches. The PB option TranslationMemoryOrder=TM,BTM,VLTM applies to both fuzzy matching and concordance searches.
A partial solution may be to use the client's TM as a reference, not a concordance. The downside of this is that your search will match both source and target text, and it will look ugly. You can't select just one file as a reference, so you'll have to put the client's TM into a subfolder by itself. The shortcut for reference searching is Alt+Ctrl+N.

I hadn't realised about the reference feature - great, thanks! This at least provides a workable solution for now, although the main point remains (I'm glad I'm not on my own with it). I have contacted Wf to see what they have to say about it.
