placeables and spaces Автор темы: Anne Greaves (X)

Hello,
I'm trying to find a way of copying placeables which includes the spaces between words. At the moment if I try to copy two consecutive words they are copied right next to each other, i.e, without a space. I went into PB and removed the underscore in Placeable PlusSpace but this doesn't seem to have done the trick. Thanks for any help!

I've been using WFC for a few years now and have never gotten round to finding out how (or, indeed, if) the placeables function works. It doesn't really bother me, but it will be interesting to see the feedback to this query, as it would be really handy for things like Company names, EU regulations, etc. | | | PlaceablePlusSpace | Apr 11, 2014 |

Just in case: the way PB commands work is by removing the underscore in their name, not replacing it by a space.
PlaceablePlusSpace -> OK
Placeable PlusSpace -> not OK
Also: PB commands are case-sensitive.

Proper names work really well with AutoSuggest (AS) in version 6.07 and newer, as you can see here:

If you enable PlaceablePlusSpace in PB, a space is automatically added after the placeable you just inserted into the target segment. | |

Taking advantage of a forum on WF placeables (and the fact that Dominique who's saved my life a couple of times is around), how can I get my WF 6.07 to include the "%" sign with numbers?
It highlights only the number but not the sign - wasn't the case with the previous version I had.
Experimented with PB placeable options but to no avail.
PS. @Neil. Most if not all company names are already placeables as they're capitalised. | | | Percentage sign and AutoSuggest | Apr 12, 2014 |

Yes, it's indeed what happens:

You can still grab 15.5% the "old-fashioned" way, ie. with Ctrl+Alt+right/left arrow.

Actually, most of the PB commands related to placeables have been deprecated in Wordfast Classic 6.07 and newer. In version 6.10, there is some room for configuration in the AS tab:

This can be handy if you have German as your source language, for instance, and you don't want all ordinary nouns (which are capitalized in German) to be considered as placeables. If so, just delete "Case" from the list.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to tweak the AS tab's placeable settings so as to have numbers followed by the percentage sign considered as placeables. I've just asked (on the WFC beta list) whether that could be possible in a future version. | | | Jean Lachaud США Local time: 22:29 английский => французский + ... I don't think it can be done. To arrive at a rule(s) that reliably selects placeables, you'll need both source and target language. English "EU" would be a placeable in Dutch, but not so much in French. And Dominique already mentioned German capitals. Even numbers can cause problems, they may require comma-dot conversion. It's simply, err, too difficult. For me anyway.
Cheers,

I certainly hope they restore this feature at some point. | | | Numbers followed by the percentage sign can be placed with AS in WFC 6.11 | Apr 12, 2014 |

It now works in WFC 6.11 (beta), even when there's a non-breaking space between the last digit and the percentage sign:

Thanks Dominique, had removed the underscore, entry looks like this: Placeable=PlusSpace
Do I need to remove equals sign too? | | | No equal sign, just PlaceablePlusSpace | Apr 13, 2014 |

Yes, PlaceablePlusSpace is a command that needs to be used as is, without spaces, underscores, equal signs or anything else extra.
The equal sign is (*) for those placeable-related commands that let you define what should be considered as a placeable. For instance, Placeable=FirstCap lets you define that words starting with a capital letter should be considered as placeables.
(*) actually: "was". Placeable= commands have been deprecated in version 6.07 and newer. In 6.07, they have been replaced by the Placeables settings found under the AS (AutoSuggest) tab. In 6.10 and newer (currently beta), there is some flexibility to tweak them. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » placeables and spaces Trados Business Manager Lite | Create customer quotes and invoices from within Trados Studio
