So I have this .xml file I need to translate, and I've looked at this slideshow and at this wiki, so I understand the procedure. However, I followed the instructions, downloaded the sample properties file, used one of those for my conversion, and I still can't open the .xml file in WordFast.

Is there a simple fix, or do I need to learn how to code in order to be able to use this CAT tool? ▲ Collapse

Troubleshooting Aug 27, 2013

If you are able to paste the error message, it will facilitate troubleshooting- that's the basic thing- as you may not have been able to open due to various reasons, better to zero in.
I guess the xml file and the properties files must be in the same folder.

There is no error message Aug 27, 2013

When I go to open the .xml file, it's grayed out. I can't even click on it.

Copy the above text to a text file and name it "xlf_rules.properties".

Then, go to Wf Pro and add it in Edit > Preferences > Filters > Formats > New > Text Based Filters, as explained in slide 6 here:

You should then be able to open your XML file in Wf Pro.

Not sure if that makes a difference, but when I put it in a TextEdit file, I can't select it when I pull up the conversion rules menu. I've saved it with the name you suggested.

I sent you the file, or at least I think I did. Do let me know if you haven't received it.

And I very much appreciate your help, but I'd also like to learn how to do this sort of thing for myself. It seems both imposing and impractical to ask others to take care of this for me.
