Hello,

To mark the current segment as "provisional", adding a coloured mark to it; to move to the next segment without storing the current one into the Translation Memory.
For example, you may want refer to some resources before approving the (temporary) segment. To edit a provisional segment, place the cursor on it, press Alt+Down, modify the target text, and press Alt+Down again to approve and store it into the TM.
But I'm not sure what to do or if this is the right path.
Please help.
Thanks,

2 solutions are possible:
1) With the segment open, press "F10" (on a PC, I don't know about Macs), which will turn it into a "provisional" segment, marked with yellow highlighting. BTW, the wiki entry is wrong, you should rely on the MANUAL available on the wordfast.net web site.

Hi Monica,
Yes, marking segments as provisional is the best way to deal with that sort of situation. There is also a button on the WF toolbar that you can use. I generally also use the MS Word "Revision" tab menu to insert a comment/note, which then is used for my query to the client and also serves as a quick shortcut back to any provisional segments and a reminder of what the query was and who I asked about it, what my ideas were on how to translate it etc. These comments should b... Hello Monica,
As regards the provisional segment editing: with all segments closed you may simply place your cursor at the top of the text and press the F10 button - Wordfast will take you then to the oldest provisional segment within your text and open it (quite useful when dealing with big files).
When you've got at least one provisional segment, the Wf Classic will not let you proceed to the cleanup.

Good luck!
