Problem with WF Classic and Excel

I'm having a problem using WordFast classic with Excel files. Usually, you work in a Word document with the XL file open at the same time and when you have finished the translation and clean it up, the translated text appears in the Excel file. However, this week I'm working on XL files and when I get to the end and clean up, I find that some of the text in the boxes/cells isn't updated, i.e. it's still in the source language.

I'm having a problem using WordFast classic with Excel files. You didn't mention versions used (OS, Office, Wordfast). The mechanism used by Wordfast to communicate with other Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint) is not bullet-proof. If it doesn't work for a particular Excel file, use Wordfast Anywhere or Wordfast Pro, which are pretty much bullet-proof.

Alternatively, you can use Pro to pre- and post-process your file, but do the actual translation in Classic, as explained here:

Thanks for the suggestion Dominique, but I'm in too much of a hurry to meet my Monday deadline to start installing and licensing new SW. Anyway, I don't like the double column interface of WF Pro and prefer to stick to Classic, warts and all.

I'll look into it when I'm under less pressure. Thanks again for your quick reply

Wordfast Anywhere is a browser-based solution, so there's nothing to install: just go to www.freetm.com, log in to you account and start pressing Alt+Down.

The interface is exactly as in Classic: source segment on top with light blue background, target segment on bottom with grey background (or green if it's a 100% match, or yellow if it's a fuzzy match). The toolbar looks the same with the familiar blue-green icons.
