I am trying to use Wordfast to process an Excel file but am running into two problems.
In the Excel worksheet, the source text is in column B and the target text should be placed in column C. I have used the advanced wizard to open the Excel file.
Problem 1: The source file contains 110 rows but for some reason WF ends up breaking this up into 144 segments. Is this all fine and can I trust that WF will put it all right at the end of the process?
This shouldn't be a problem: Wordfast segments Excel files based on the punctuation, not by Excel cell. If a given cell contains several sentences, Wordfast will make several segments out of the content of that cell. When saving the translated file, you will have the corresponding translated sentences in a single cell.

Problem 2: The target column, C, already contains, in some cells, old translations for some source cells. These old translations must be kept and perhaps need to be revised in some cases. But in the WF interface, I see no trace of them. What will happen with them, will they be deleted from the file once WF starts putting the target translation into the Excel file? How can I get WF to show any such pre-existing translations in the appropriate target cells in the WF interface, so I can use them in the translation process?
I believe what you want to do is this:

If you have lots of rows to hide, you can sort your sheet according to the target column, in order to be able to hide all rows that are already translated in one go. You will have to add a column with row numbers if you need to put rows back in the same order.
