Hi there,
I used to work with Wordfast Pro in Windows 7 but changed over to a Mac recently.
Now I am looking for a way to transfer the settings, project information and glossaries from my old PC to the new system. In Windows that's stored in the .wf-workspace folder in the user directory, a copy of which I have backed up.
However, so far I couldn't find out whether there is a corresponding folder on the Mac (guess there must be?) and where to find it, or what else to d... See more Hi there,

However, so far I couldn't find out whether there is a corresponding folder on the Mac (guess there must be?) and where to find it, or what else to do to import that information into my new WF.

Just create a dummy terminology list (which WFP always store in .wf_workspace), then put the cursor on its name and the path to it will be revealed to you, as shown here:
I'm sure Finder would have found it, but I'm not a very skilled Mac user

.wf-workspace is a hidden folder and (just as in Windows, really) they are not shown by default - and therefore you can't find them searching the computer either. To change this, you have to paste something into the Terminal (defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE;killall Finder).
Now that I've done that the folder is just where it's supposed to be.

I do not recommend transferring project settings and I do not see a critical reason for that. All your TMs and TXML files are where you have already saved them, and it is very easy to move them to the new machine.
All what you need is to export your glossary and import it later:
- Terminology (menu) > New/Select Glossary
- Click on "Export" button
- From "Terminology" (dropdown menu), select the glossary you want to export.

All what you need is to export your glossary and import it later:
- Terminology (menu) > New/Select Glossary
- Click on "Export" button
- From "Terminology" (dropdown menu), select the glossary you want to export.
- From "Export Type", keep it "Tab Delimited"
- Click on "Browse" to select the location where you want to save your glossary and give it a proper name.
- Save > OK - An "exported successfully" message should appear.
- Now, you can copy your .txt glossary you have just exported to use again in Wordfast.
To import the glossary to Wordfast Pro,
- Terminology (menu) > New/Select Glossary
- Click on "Import" button
- From "File Type", keep it "Tab Delimited"
- Click on "Browse" to select the .txt glossary you want to import; Open.
- If this is the first time you use this glossary, keep the option "Create new glossary" selected. If you want to update a glossary you already selected in WFP, check "Import into existing glossary", select the existing glossary into which you want import the terms of the other glossary, and the way you want WFP to deal with source terms that already exist.
- A message will appear telling you about the number of terms that will be imported. An "imported successfully" message should appear.
- Now, you can use the imported glossary, as usual.

For your information, .wf_workspace is not shown by Finder as any file starting with a dot is hidden, by default. So you have to show the hidden files. We use this way for trouble-shooting only, typically for deleting the whole .wf_workspace: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=415
I am telling about it just for references, but I do NOT recommend using it in your case. It is recommended to create fresh projects and open your TXML files and TMs in them to avoid any potential issues.

My Windows machine broke down completely, so I don't have the old system any more to export the glossaries. I probably should have mentioned that.
Anyway, thanks for your information - I'll just save my glossaries and will create new projects!

Dear Margrit,
Which version of WF Pro was you running? If it is recent, you should have *.txt files in the same folder called glossaries; can you find them? If you find them, it is better to "IMPORT" them at Terminology menu > New/Select Terminology rather than to copy the glossaries folder.

I am in the same situation as Margrit's, and I work for agencies with 100+ customers.
Personally, I have been working with 40 of them, each one with their language pair, their remote or local TM, and their glossary.
I assure you that having 40 TMs, glossaries and projects migrated in a couple of minutes will save you at least one hour than doing it from scratch for each and every client.
But I don't know how to migrate the remote TMs strings from WF-Windows7 to WF-MacOsX, except than doing it manually.
Any help with that?
