Analyzing files???? Автор темы: Claude Koch

Hi,
I am just starting to use WFP. Working with it is quit simple, but I didn't find the way to analyze a file. When I open the Analyze window, I choose my project folder and the TM related. But when it comes to click on the analyze button, a window appears and say to me that I have to select at least one file! I don't understand why the project folder is empty.
Can anyone help on this issue?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

You have to select the file you want to analyze inside the selected folder. WFP will ask you to set the filter for the type of file (.doc, .docx. xls, pdf, etc) and then you can analyze it.
I hope this helps! At least, it's what I do and it works fine. | | | Heinrich Pesch Финляндия Local time: 13:41 Член ProZ.com c 2003 финский => немецкий + ... Open the file to be analysed in Word | Dec 18, 2011 |
Then you will see the filename and the check-box checked. If more than one file is open you can then select the files to be analysed. | | | Clinton Muoto США Local time: 03:41 Член ProZ.com c 2009 польский => английский Selecting the files to analyze | Dec 18, 2011 |
From the Analyze window, click on the Project folder you chose, a tree will open up showing all the files in the folder. You can then select the files you want to analyze from the list.

That's the procedure for Classic, but the OP asked about Pro. | | | Claude Koch Local time: 12:41 немецкий => французский + ... Автор темы My project folder is always empty! | Dec 18, 2011 |

I think the problem is that my project folder is always empty. I don't understand why the saved file (.rtf.txml) is the original text folder and the project folder in the .wf_workspace. The two files are on different places. Is that why the analyzing doesn't work?

No these are two different things, a project controls the language pair, TMs, terminology, etc., so for example it tells Wordfast you are working from ES to EN and you want to use a certain TM and a certain terminology, the txml file is the actual translation you are working which follows the rules of the project, projects are stored by default in .wf_workspace.
I think you are probably not following the right steps, so just in case let's go over the steps one by one to analyze a file:
1- Open the analyze section
2- Click on "Add file", look for the folder where the files are and click OK, when you do this Wordfast will open the "Choose format" pop-up window, select the format you need (depending on the types of files in the folder you selected it may already be the right format) and click OK.
3-Now you should see the folder you selected (it will below the "Add file" icon).
4-Now you need to open that folder (by clicking on the arrow to the left of the folder icon) and choose the files you want to analyze (if you want to analyze them all click on the square next to the file icon).
5-Now you need to choose the TM you want to use, so from the list in the right side of the screen choose one of your TMs.
5-Now you need to tell the program how you want it to output the results, you choose that on the bottom right-hand side of the screen, "output in comma separated format" creates a csv file which has all the breakdown, if you choose that option you will have to then tell the program where to store the file, if you choose "output only report summary" you will get a summary on screen.
6-On the top of the screen click on "Analyze"

@Alex Lago
The problem is that the folder is empty (your point #4). There are no files to select.
???
I really don't know how to resolve that problem.
I created several projects and opened multiple files, but nothing changed. The program's always saying that I have to "select at least one file to analyze" when I click the "analyze" button but there is no one below the left arrow.

In PM mode, you have to select the folder where your files are located. Then you will click on it and the files will appear. If they don't appear is that the files are not there. | | | nordiste Франция Local time: 12:41 английский => французский + ... check the file type (bottom right) | Dec 19, 2011 |

Check that the file type you want to analyse (.txml) appears in the list of types, if not try to select "all types" and you should see your file.

Thanks for your tip nordiste. I tried to do as you said but nothing works!
I choose the "default .txml configuration" but nothing appeared under my Project file.
I don't have a "All formats" possibility in this version of WFP 2.4.4 EN | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Analyzing files???? Anycount & Translation Office 3000 | Translation Office 3000
