Wordfast Classic: Runtime Error 4608 Автор темы: Alba Arendsen

I suddenly have a very strange problem with Wordfast Classic:
When I click on Select TM, I immediately get the question "Do you wish to have an active TM?". If I click Yes, nothing changes; if I click No, there will be no active TM.
When I then click on Select TM again, I get "Run-time error '4608': Value out of range".
I've re-downloaded and re-installed WordFast Classic but that did not solve the problem.
I'm using Windows 7 Professional and ... See more I suddenly have a very strange problem with Wordfast Classic:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've got a big translation job waiting and I can't afford this "downtime"! ▲ Collapse | | | Tentative solution | Nov 24, 2011 |

It seems this problem occurs when the file type in Word defaults to WordPerfect (don't ask why). In Word, just select File > Open, select "All Files" as the file type and open *any* Word document. Close that document and you should be able to select TM's and glossaries as normal in Wordfast. If this works for you, you can thank Samuel Murray for posting the solution on the main Wf list. | | | Did you try re-licensing your Wordfast? | Nov 24, 2011 |
I had the same problem and I received this answer from WF support. It did work!

I would be very surprised if relicensing solved a runtime error 4608 problem, but who knows!
At least "albantar" has several things he/she can try. Here are a few other suggestions:

The main Wf mailing list also has additional workarounds, like manually editing the .ini file and entering the path to the TM and/or glossaries.

Un énorme merci à toi !
Indeed, I had attempted to open a Microsoft Works document, and the Open dialog was stuck on MS Works documents... Set it to Word documents, opened one, fixed the problem straight away.
Another bug squashed by the ProZ community, respect. | | | Samuel is to be thanked for this | Nov 24, 2011 |

Glad to hear it worked for you! And interesting to see the problem can be caused by attempting to open other "exotic" file formats.
As I said, the real hero here is Samuel Murray and he made his discovery public on the Wordfast mailing list (Yahoo). I merely forwarded his findings to this forum. The good thing of a ProZ forum (compared to the Yahoo list) is that this post will catch Google's attention, so future sufferers will find the solution faster.

The above error is what you get with versions 6.01g, 5.92m and probably older versions too. It occurs under the same circumstances as There was an error opening the 'Open file' dialog box with versions 6.03t, 6.05 (and probably newer too). Detailed explanations are provided here:
