Editing txml files in Wordfast

Hi friends,

I have WFP 6.0. I am required to edit some txml files in which almost half of the words are repeated in different segments. If I edit and make some changes in a segment, I need to make the same changes when the same segment is repeated later in the file so as to keep the consistency.

Is there any method to get the same edited segment automatically when it is repeated in file as it will ensure consistency in addition to saving a great deal of time.

Leveraging repetitive content May 27, 2011

Hi Chopra,

I guess you must have WFP version 2.4 ...something, not 6.0 (this is the latest WF Classic's version). TXML is a native WFP format.

You can easily find in the Help file:

"Leveraging repetitive content

The leveraging repetitive content option can be used when there are repetitive segments in a file. For example, if there are multiple instances of the phrase "Our Process" then the translator needs to type the translation only once. The... See more

I guess you must have WFP version 2.4 ...something, not 6.0 (this is the latest WF Classic's version). TXML is a native WFP format.

You can easily find in the Help file:

"Leveraging repetitive content

The leveraging repetitive content option can be used when there are repetitive segments in a file. For example, if there are multiple instances of the phrase "Our Process" then the translator needs to type the translation only once. The remaining segments are leveraged automatically. To use this feature you must enable the Auto Propagation option. For more information, refer Enabling Auto Propagation.

Hello Egils,

Thanks so much for your informative reply. I followed the procedure and found that this feature is not available in the version (2.1.4) of WFP which I have.

I'll have to buy the latest version but meanwhile is there any workaround to do so?

Just download the latest version of WFP May 28, 2011

If you have the licence you can easily start working with the latest version 2.4...

If not, Demo of the latest version is also functional but for limited TM (at least that was the case with WFC, about 500-1000 TUs).
