It can open other PPT files, but not those from the specific project I am working on. My attempts to convert them into the earlier (95) or later (2007) formats didn't work: it still complains, but not explains ("An error occurred. Contact a specialist" or smthing like this). Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Did you try the very latest PPT/WFP versions? Jul 22, 2010

Hi,

I never met that kind of problem with Wordfast Pro, but just in case, did you try to convert the file to the very latest version of MS Powerpoint (2010)?
A free trial of MS Office 2010 can be downloaded at http://microsoftoffice2010.us/tag/office-2010-trial-version.

A free trial of MS Office 2010 can be downloaded at http://microsoftoffice2010.us/tag/office-2010-trial-version.

Also, Wordfast just released a new version of WFP a couple of days ago. There is no mention about the fixing of a bug with PPT among the improvements, but this might be worth checking if you can open your file with this latest version : http://www.proz.com/forum/wordfast_support/176027-wordfast_pro_2401_now_available_for_all_platforms.html

Hope this helps,

Good luck !

Is the extension .pptx ? Jul 23, 2010

For some reason WF doesn't open these. My suggestion: convert them back to .ppt. Conversion is necessary, you cannot simply remove the x.
Maybe that you should have the corresponding version of Powerpoint on your computer.
For me this works (I have WF Pro 2.4 and PPT 2003).

Which Wordfast version? Jul 23, 2010

Which Wordfast version are you using? Pro or Classic?

Have you tried both versions on your troublesome PowerPoint file?

If all else fails, try Classic Jul 23, 2010

As I understand it, you haven't tried the Wordfast Classic approach to translating the PowerPoint file. (Apologies if I've misunderstood.)

It's worth trying.

If you have Wordfast Classic installed in Word, then it's quite easy to do:
1) Open a blank Word document, with the Wordfast toolbar set up and ready to go.
2) Open your Powerpoint file and click a text frame on the first slide.
3) Return to the Word document and click the next segment button (or

It will import each text section into Word, where you can translate it with Wordfast, and then send it back to the PowerPoint file.

Oh, and I assume you've checked that the PowerPoint file isn't protected against editing?

Suggestion: download the latest version Jul 23, 2010

Yours is very old, and WF Pro continues to be developed.
