Background: We will need to translate some patents from any of GB/FR/DE/SE to Finnish. The problem is that we only have source docs. on paper and of bad quality. The suggestion is then to count the words in the translation and calculate the number of words in the source document.

Problem: It does not seem to exist any common idea about the language factor (=number of words in the source text compared to thenumber of words in the translation).

Anyway a document in English of 5,000 words could boil down to 3,000-4,000 words in Finnish, if that is of any help.
