Hello All, i am working with Trados 6.5 Freelance and i have encountered a problem when trying to convert my RTF (STF) files into MIF again. Hi Maria, You didn't write if you used Trados & Word, or Trados & TagEditor. Maybe you could try this: In case you have translated the rtf file in Word, it could well be that you have damaged tags somewhere. TagEditor is a much safer alternative, as it alerts you whenever the tags in source and target segment are not the same (or when the number of tags differs). TagEditor is a much safer alternative, as it alerts you whenever the tags in source and target segment are not the same (or when the number of tags differs). I thought of this solution (which is my autodidactic way of looking at it, there may be Trados experts out there who could give you a better advice): 1. Convert the original mif file into rtf (stf) again. 2. Open Workbench & TagEditor 3. Open source rtf file in TagEditor. 4. Work through the rtf file with your existing TM. In case there are some incorrect tags in you TM, the TagEditor will alert immediately. 5. Safe rtf file, make clean-up 6. Convert from rtf to mif Good luck! The full S-Tagger report for RTF file is included in the corresponding .cmp file (.cmp files are pure RTF files, so you can drag them and drop on Word window and they will open in Word), created in the same folder during the verification process. Agree with Erik | Jan 5, 2005 |
With 96 errors and 400+ warnings, I would tend to agree that Erik's method would be the quickest. The Tag Verifier log files are extremely complex and confusing, whereas using the TagEditor option would only take an hour or so to sift through half a dozen files. | | | RWSTranslati (X) Germany Local time: 11:36 German to English + ...
Hello, another way for a faster result is maybe to retranslate the original source files. From the memory you will get your translation, but Trados will use (mostly) the correct placeables. Make sure to adjust TagEditor with the correct Tag Protection settings Hans | | | Maria San Martin Local time: 11:36 Member (2003) German to Spanish + ... TOPIC STARTER
