English term

his j.d. friend.......

English to German Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
It´s from Stephen King Short story "The Body" : "...If it was his dad, he would crawl out; if it was Billy, he´d stay put until Billy and his j.d. friend Charlie Hogan had taken off."
I does not refer to a character before mentioned in the book as it is written in small letters.

wie alt sind sie???

eventuell Jugendfreund oder Kindheitsfreund
Peer comment(s):

neutral Ulrike Lieder (X) : Ausgesprochen unwahrscheinlich, wäre auch grammatikalisch falsch. Und die o.a. Referenz bezieht sich auf etwas ganz anderes.

juvenile delinquent

This is given in Websters for the abbreviation JD. It is probably being used humorously to mean "badly behaved".
Peer comment(s):

agree Ulrike Lieder (X) : Sounds quite plausible. My first thought was doctor of jurisprudence (which is abbreviated JD), but that certainly wouldn't fit here...

agree David Moore (X) : Looks convincing enough to me.

agree InaHohmann : seems the most convincing, judging by what the fragment implies of the context

Is is j.d. or g.d.

Don't know why the book would abbreviate juvenile delinquent, so I'm wondering if it is g.d., which some people say in place of "God damned", his god damned friend Charlie Hogan. Just a thought.
