Dutch term
leidingschacht
Dutch to English
Tech/Engineering
Construction / Civil Engineering
'Geconcludeerd is dat de leidingschacht een apart brandcompartiment moet zijn om te kunnen voldoen aan de eisen uit het Bouwbesluit 2003. Daaruit volgt dat de wanden tussen de leidingschacht en de appartementen dus een brandwerendheid van tenminste 60 minuten dienen te hebben. Nagegaan is of de GiBo-scheidingswanden aan laatstgenoemde eis voldoen.'

leidingschacht is also cross referenced as a "service shaft", but that is something entirely different.

pipe shaft
"To overcome this problem, an extraction fan is usually mounted to the ceiling of such bathroom having an almost closed space. The extraction fan is connected to an air duct that is led to a public pipe shaft in the apartment building and then to an external environment, such as the roof of the building. With the extraction fan, gases in the bathroom can be extracted to flow through the air duct and the public pipe shaft to be finally exhausted into ambient air.
Example sentence:
Such machines include a pipe shaft assembly which includes a drive housing unit rotating pipe shaft that runs through the housing unit for the insertion of the pipecleaning coil.

: leiding=pipe and schacht=shaft. Looks simple but it's the best I can come up with too.

: This is called a utility shaft or utility duct in English. All buildings have utility shafts or ducts and these are used to accommodate piping, electrical wiring, telephone lines etc. etc. Also, a pipe shaft is not the same as a piping shaft.
