restitution

French to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Participatory project
The "grand finale" of an artist-led project involving social housing residents who took part in various workshops then presented their ideas in public at the "restitution".

I used to take music classes, and our end-of-year concert was also referred to as the "restitution".

So far I haven't found a single, accepted word for this in an art context.

Question closed I appreciate everyone's contributions. There doesn't seem to be a single word that covers every form these "restitutions" (e.g. performance piece, concert or exhibition) can take, which is what I was looking for.

Now that we have the full context and know what actually happened, I agree that "performance" would be a good choice. "Event" is another possibility.

HTH, FWIW If you search for "restitution publique" you'll find some hits refering to them simply as "public performance".

@Barbara That's pretty much the gist of it. A show, a performance, a concert, a rendition (@Cyril) to illustrate the outcome/findings of a project. Another example would be, as mentioned, a concert given by amateur musicians at the end of the year (in my experience, to an audience of indulgent friends and family!).

Seems like it might be some kind of public venue where artistic achievements, after what might be a great deal of effort on the part of the artists of whatever kind, are put on display or showcased.

@Peter The purpose of the project was to think about how an urban environment "acts on the body". Local residents took part in "rencontres, ateliers et actions artistiques". On the last day, they walked through the town, following the artist who operated a bubble-making machine. That was the "restitution" in question.

Angles to help (hopefully) with the brainstorming When you say ideas, do you mean just the residents' thoughts/reflections on what they did during the workshops (a retrospective "lookback session" going over what they did), or are their ideas about things that could be done in future as well?

And if your text mentions it, in what way are the ideas being presented? Just by talking/discussing, or is there any visual/artistic or other element to this "restitution"?

In an area of social housing it could be a project to represent the restoration of something such as a building to its original state. A visual art project could seek to represent local improvements or a return of entitlement to a previous owner. All are possible in restitution, which, in a musical performance is a rendition or play-back.

Thanks for your input. I know what the idea is, as should be clear from the wording of the question. None of the terms in the Kudoz glossary suit this context. Wordreference suggestions of "feedback" or "report" also fall short. This is more of a performance, an "output" although that doesn't please me, either. Again, thanks for your remark.
