We’re reminded of that riding up the M6 motorway from Triumph’s Hinckley factory to Stranraer in Scotland.
The rain starts literally one mile from the factory and doesn’t stop for another 200.
The spray from cars and lorries forms a virtually blinding wall of water the colour of bad news.
Visibility is down to ten metres in places, but we don’t want to leave the fast lane of the three-lane motorway.
The quicker we travel, the sooner it’ll be over.
It’s seat of the pants stuff.
On edge, maximum concentration, every mile of the way.
Still, it doesn’t feel dangerous.
