Italian term

Autore

Raymond contemplated it with delight; the more he gazed, the more pleased he was; and yet the errors multiplied under inspection. He wrote to the address given, desiring to see the draughtsman, that such alterations might be made, as should be suggested in a consultation between him and the original conceiver.

There was little interest
in understanding how, or whether, they were to be actually
constructed. Hence, somewhat perversely within the new
Republic, a hierarchy was established, in which the conceiver
of ideas was privileged over those who merely brought them
into physicality.

The windows and the sculptural detail were to Lorimer's design, and he was very much the mastermind of the building's iconographic scheme liaising with military officials and collaborating with many Scottish artists to achieve the final result that is seen today.
