English term

implementation tenant

English to French Bus/Financial Human Resources
This is a phrase used in the application Workday: "implementation tenant"

A tenant is any application that requires its own secure computing environment. Each Workday customer has their own secure tenant that only they can access.

Context: "System Status: Your Implementation tenant will be unavailable for a maximum of 12 hours. "

If you have come across this phrase before, I would appreciate your help with how to translate "implementation tenant" into French. I'm still looking for a good translation. Thank you.

Yes, I agree with Daryo on thid
Daryo Apr 19, 2023:
You could simply use the most literal translation "(l'application) locataire".

That's in fact exactly what a "tenant (application)" is. Like a tenant, it does not own "the place" (the equipment hosting it), it's only temporarily allowed "the use of the premises".

If we can have boots (the boot sector, booting a system = by analogy with putting your boots on early in the morning ...) and cookies (try to eat them if you can) in a computer, why not "locataires"?

Makes for sure far more sense than calling "remembered environment parameters" by a name designed to sound cute and innocuous, but meaningless like "cookies".

La traduction classique en principe... Mais votre explication pour le "tenant" me fait naître le doute.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Daryo : Definitely not: a "token" is only a kind of "access key" - it's NOT the workspace (or the application) it gives you access to. CL5 about that.

agree Daryo : That's the right idea, but each company might invent out of thin air their own jargon, just to be "different" from the competition.

Thank you!
agree Meryem Alaoui : Thank you. This translates the general meaning. I went with "l'application locataire" as per Daryo's suggestion, which is a more direct translation, which I found in other sites, and closer in number of characters to the English.
