I am about to take my Exam for Medical Interpreting test of the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. I actually failed it the first time, because I could not answer correctly regarding practical situations in real life in medical encounter settings. I do not have this experience and need to learn more about medical code of ethics and standards of practices. I am about to take my Exam for Medical Interpreting test of the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. I actually failed it the first time, because I could not answer correctly regarding practical situations in real life in medical encounter settings. I do not have this experience and need to learn more about medical code of ethics and standards of practices. I would like to know if anyone out there can direct me to a web site that has some real world situations I can read about and the correct solutions to these.
All I can find is general rules but not yet any real world situations and answers.
An example of what I am seeking:
When a patient tells an interpreter about a situation in confidence, when the doctor is not present, what to do? ▲ Collapse

Just a quick question: are you given multiple choice or do you have to explain your answer in essay form on the test?

At the very end of the description, it says: "3. Given a medical encounter scenario, choose the most appropriate interpreter action based on the Standards." - Does it sound like what you are looking for?
