Hi! I was wondering how it is for a freelancer in France. I am living outside France since more than 20 years and I hope that things have changed. Many years ago you had to work through a "agence de portage" if you didn't earn enough money to pay the URSAF. How it is today? Is it like in Germany where you have a limit under which you don't pay any taxes? Thanks Claire | | | Ute Nossmann Germany Local time: 13:08 English to German + ... Well, everything depends on how much you plan to bill ... If you think that you will stay below 32.000 euros/year (billing, not benefit), the new system of "auto-entrepreneur" may be interesting for you (see http://www.lautoentrepreneur.fr/), because you pay a given percentage AFTER your clients paid you. Hope it helps, Ute

Danke | | | Alan Douglas (X) France Local time: 13:08 Auto-entrepreneur en France | Feb 3, 2010 |
Hi Claire, The new legislation only dates from Febuary 2009. As Ute says you can earn up to €32,000 per annum, remain within the regime and do not have to charge TVA. Set up is on-line and really simple. Delarations for income tax and contributions are also on-line and more or less idiot-proof. Add up receipts paid for all work done (including expenses and with no deductions allowed), to arrive at your 'chiffre d'affairs' for the trimestre, enter the figure and pay 20.5% by direct... If you don't earn a cent during any given trimestre you are not required to make a declaration. If you earn > €10,500 during the year and declare and pay your 20.5% liability then you are fully covered for benefits etc. Good luck, Alan ▲ Collapse | |

A méditer... ▲ Collapse | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Freelancer in France Anycount & Translation Office 3000 | Translation Office 3000
